Choosing a manufacturer is one of the most important decisions a healthcare brand makes. Price and timelines matter, but quality problems cost far more. Before you sign, ask these six questions.
1. What specification will you manufacture to?
Agree a written specification for composition, format, pack and acceptance criteria. If a partner cannot tell you what they will test against, they cannot show you that they met it.
2. Which licences and approvals apply to my product?
Medicines, nutraceuticals and cosmetics follow different rules. Ask which licences cover your product category, and request copies relevant to your market.
3. How are materials sourced and checked?
Ask where ingredients come from, how suppliers are approved and what incoming checks are done before materials are used.
4. What documents will I receive with each batch?
A certificate of analysis for each batch, and batch records on request, make quality auditable. Agree this before production starts.
5. Who approves the label and artwork?
Labels are regulated information. Agree who drafts, reviews and approves artwork, and how changes are controlled.
6. What happens if something goes wrong?
Ask how complaints, deviations and recalls are handled, and who you will speak to. A good partner answers this clearly before you need it.
